UK Tour - April 2010
In April, eleven goalkeepers arrived on Tynside from the Simon Smith Goalkeeping Academy in Vancouver, Canada. They were to take part in practise sessions with leading professional coaches, visit Newcastle United Football Club and have fun along the way!
Here is a visual record of their journey. Training that first morning, the first Academy session on English soil and considering jet lag and the travelling the day before, the attitude, application, commitment and standard of goalkeeping was 1st class, something that continued throughout the week.

Training Sessions
Newcastle United Football Club
The group visited the home of Newcastle United (St James Park) three times during their stay, firstly to watch a classic encounter from a bygone age (Newcastle United v Blackpool), and then to do a tour of the ground. A photo opportunity if ever there was one!
A final visit was for the Youth Cup Semi Final second leg v Aston Villa.

Views around Tyneside
Throw in the spectacular sights and sounds of Tyneside and its coastline, not to mention a delayed journey back home to Canada (courtesy of the erupting Icelandic volcano), the group were to have a memorable visit.
